In 1960, Jacobs® created its Multi-Craft® line, the first mass-produced keyed chuck for the Do-it-yourself market.

In 1990, Jacobs® launched the first commercially successful keyless chuck for portable power tools, called Hand-Tite®. As a result of this technological breakthrough, the “hand tight” chuck became widely used on portable power tools.

In 2001, Jacobs® introduced a new 500/700 PRO keyless chuck which applied new "Locking System" , "Click", and "Anti-Lock" technology.
